Description

Hut 90 was an award-nominated independent game studio that focused on developing action games that were fun for everyone.

History

Early History
Founded in December 2014, Hut 90 was a one-man game studio ran by Lovepreet Nijjar. Before starting Hut 90, Lovepreet spent several years making games, mainly during game jams. During this time, Lovepreet improved his design and programming skills to a level that he could complete small games in a short period. After attending a few conferences and learning that making games could be a viable method of income, Lovepreet set up Hut 90.

After that
After forming, Lovepreet, as Hut 90, decided to focus all of its resources on completing its first game called Retool. Retool was a 3D hacking puzzle game where players could hack into computers to rewire outputs of electronics. The game was released on May 19, 2016 and was accepted on the ID@Xbox program on the same day. The game was also a TIGA Awards 2016 finalist in the puzzle category.

Recent
After releasing Retool, Hut 90 started working on its sophomore game called Akuto: Mad World. Akuto: Mad World started to gain lots of praise in a short period, and was released on Steam Early Access on December 2016 after 6 months of development. On March 28 2019, Akuto: Mad World was renamed to Akuto: Showdown and was released from Steam Early Access, and subsequently released on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

In 2023, Hut 90 was shut down.
